Museum of the Moon - Federation Square Melbourne Australia

by - 4:55:00 PM

We recently took a trip to the Atrium at Federation square and we came across a new exhibition the Museum of the Moon.

Museum of the Moon is a touring Artwork by UK Artist Luke Jerram. There are several moons touring simultaneously.  The artwork has toured many countries including UK, USA, France, The Netherlands etc. Most recently here in Melbourne Australia aswell as in the UK, Canada , New Zealand and The USA. There are many moon artworks touring the world from this artist.

The Museum of the moon measures 7 meters in diameter. The moon features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the Luna surface. At an approximate scale of 1:500,000 each centimeter of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 5km of the moons surface.

Seeing the moon this close was a magical experience. We also stayed until it got dark so we could see it lit up at night and again it was so beautiful.

Below are some images I took of the artwork.
